Quote preparation checklist

Ask for a complete network quote, not just a recognizable model number.

Use this checklist to connect line items to the environment, quantities, accessories, compatibility, subscription terms, fulfillment, installation, warranty, and support.

1. Requirement and line items

Describe the environment and everything needed to operate the equipment.

Identify locations, users, devices, circuits, ports, PoE demand, wireless areas, resilience, management, security, growth, and timing. Without context, a valid line item may still be incomplete.

Hardware

Devices, modules, optics, antennas, power, racks, mounts, stacking, cables, adapters, and spares.

Terms

Licenses, subscriptions, management, security, support, length, start date, renewal, and account.

Fulfillment

Configuration, installation, shipping, lead time, substitutes, warranty, returns, and support.

2. Comparison

Normalize assumptions before comparing price.

Quotes may use different terms, support levels, accessories, shipping, availability, implementation, or quantities. Compare the normalized requirement and mark every exclusion, option, substitute, and unconfirmed dependency.

Do not place passwords, license keys, full configurations, private agreements, customer data, or unnecessary security details in a general quote request.

Decision checklist

Network quote request checklist

Use this list to prepare a review, assign missing information, and make quote or project assumptions visible.

  • Business requirement, locations, dates, standards, growth, and approval constraints

  • Circuits, firewall needs, VPNs, interfaces, resilience, management, and security

  • Switch ports, speeds, uplinks, media, stacking, PoE, power, and spare capacity

  • Wi-Fi areas, device counts, mounting, cabling, PoE, antennas, and validation

  • Hardware, modules, optics, antennas, power, mounts, cables, adapters, and spares

  • Licenses, terms, availability, shipping, returns, warranty, implementation, and support

Planning path

Move from available facts to a documented decision.

  1. Confirm requirements

Document the environment, demand, dependencies, standards, and timing.

  2. Build quantities

Include equipment, licenses, modules, power, mounting, cabling, and spares.

  3. Check compatibility

Review interfaces, software, management, support, account, and term.

  4. Normalize terms

Compare fulfillment, implementation, warranty, support, exclusions, and total term.
