Opening checklist
Keep the network on the opening critical path.
Use this checklist to coordinate dates, facilities, circuits, cabling, equipment, licensing, systems, wireless, installers, remote preparation, validation, and handoff.
1. Dates and facilities
Connect network milestones to construction and access.
- Opening, training, inventory arrival, system installation, and soft-opening dates
- Demarc, closets, racks, electrical, UPS, cooling, grounding, and cabling readiness
- Floor plans, ceiling heights, restricted areas, lifts, mounting, access, and receiving
- Primary and backup circuit orders, construction, handoffs, addressing, and activation
2. Deployment and acceptance
Give installers and testers one coordinated plan.
Installer instructions should identify locations, mounting, cable types, labels, patching, ports, power, antennas, photos, cleanup, and escalation. Remote preparation should use confirmed equipment, licensing, addressing, and network intent.
Acceptance should name each expected workflow and the person who can confirm it. Record defects, temporary workarounds, ownership, deadlines, and opening impact.

Planning path
Move from available facts to a documented decision.
-
At design
Confirm systems, connectivity, security, standards, facilities, dates, and owners.
-
Before ordering
Confirm quantities, licenses, accessories, power, mounting, lead time, and delivery.
-
Before deployment
Confirm readiness, circuits, staging, installer instructions, access, and tests.
-
Before handoff
Complete tests, record exceptions, deliver documentation, and confirm support.
