Display design guide
Design the NetSuite Scoreboard for the screen and viewing distance.
A wall-mounted TV should not reproduce a dense NetSuite report. The scoreboard needs a clear hierarchy, approved scope, and information density matched to the people who will use it.
Guide in brief
- Prioritize the recurring question before choosing charts or colors.
- Use less information as viewing distance increases.
- Test the real compatible browser display before launch.
Viewing context
Choose information density by audience and distance
Wall-mounted TV
Use large measures, short labels, strong contrast, and a small number of clear exceptions.
Warehouse screen
Emphasize current queues, pace, aging, or review conditions relevant to the shift.
Manager workstation
Allow denser comparisons and supporting context for close-up investigation.
Tablet or meeting room
Use a responsive layout for mobile review, standups, or a scheduled operating discussion.
Page design
Give every page one clear job
- State the location, period, unit, and scope in plain language.
- Keep the primary measure or queue visually dominant.
- Use color as a supporting signal, not the only way to communicate status.
- Show a visible NetSuite data-as-of time.
- Move investigation detail to a manager page when it competes with across-the-room readability.
Rotation
Rotate pages deliberately
Scoreboard page rotation is separate from NetSuite data refresh. Pages may rotate every 20-60 seconds or at another configured interval while using the latest available NetSuite snapshot.
Give viewers enough time to understand each page. A longer interval may be appropriate for denser manager views, while a simple status page may need less time.
Display validation
Test the actual screen before deployment
- Confirm supported browser, resolution, orientation, zoom, network access, and sign-in behavior.
- Check headings, labels, tables, and data-as-of text at the real viewing distance.
- Confirm that public-floor content omits or masks sensitive fields.
- Test every configured page and the full rotation sequence.
Frequently asked questions
How often should pages rotate?
A common configured interval is 20-60 seconds, but the right timing depends on page density, audience, and operating context.
Does rotating a page refresh NetSuite?
No. Page rotation uses the latest available snapshot. Standard NetSuite result updates occur separately, approximately every 15-20 minutes.
Should a TV show every KPI?
No. A shared display should show the smallest set of approved measures, queues, or exceptions needed by its audience.
